US B1/B2 visitor visa — overview

The US B1/B2 visa covers tourism, family visits, medical treatment and business meetings. It is decided at a personal interview, so preparation and a clear, honest narrative are crucial.

Who can apply?

  • Tourism & visiting family or friends
  • Medical treatment
  • Business meetings & conferences
  • Attending events such as graduations

Most US visitor refusals are under section 214(b): the officer is not convinced you will return home. Ties, history and a coherent trip story matter most.

Documents required for a USA visit visa

Core documents for Pakistani applicants. Your exact list depends on your profile (employee, business owner, student or homemaker) — we send you a personalised checklist.

Standard documents

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip, with 2 blank pages, plus copies of old passports and previous visas
  • CNIC / B-Form copy, recent passport-size photographs (as per country specifications)
  • Completed visa application form (online or paper) and visa fee receipt
  • Bank statements for 6 months with a clear, explainable pattern of income and savings
  • Proof of ties to Pakistan: employment letter/NOC & salary slips, or business registration, FBR tax returns and business bank statements; students need a bonafide certificate
  • Family Registration Certificate (FRC) / Nikah Nama if travelling with family
  • Confirmed travel itinerary and accommodation bookings (not necessarily paid), and a clear cover letter
  • Travel medical insurance where required (mandatory for Schengen)

Specific to USA

  • DS-160 confirmation page and interview appointment letter

  • Details of social-media handles — applicants are expected to disclose them on the DS-160

USA visit visa — frequently asked questions

Is an interview required for a US visit visa?

Yes. Since 2025 in-person interviews are required for almost all applicants, and the old interview-waiver option is very limited.

Can I apply for a US visitor visa from Pakistan?

Yes — apply through the US Embassy in Islamabad or the consulates in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, according to the current appointment rules.

Does a rejection stop me from applying again?

No, but you should reapply only when your circumstances or documents have genuinely changed. We review refusals and advise on the right timing.
